You told us that you;

  • Can easily charge your car at home or work
  • Would not be willing or able to recharge your vehicle during the day or mid journey
  • Travel between 51 and 150 miles in a typical day

Based on your preferences you could be best suited to the following fuel type(s);

MID RANGE PURE ELECTRIC VEHICLE

Pure Electic Vehicles (also know as battery electric vehicles) run off one power source only - the electric battery. There is no combustion engine present which means they are the cleanest option and never produce tailpipe emissions and hence the most sustainable.

They do however have range anxiety, if you run out of electricity that’s it, just like if you ran out of petrol or diesel; hence there are some additional things you need to consider before purchasing a pure electric vehicle.

Suitable for predominantly urban* driving due to range limitations, however new models are coming to market with increasing ranges moving these vehicles into the extra-urban** drive cycles. Vehicle charging is a key consideration because there is no other back up fuel so access to a charging point at home is a must.

Mid range*** pure electric vehicles have a range of less than 150 miles****.

You should carefully consider the type of vehicle that is right for your individual or business circumstances. This is a guide to some of the questions you should consider and provides an indication as to the type of vehicle which may be suitable. There will be other factors this guide does not take into account such as cost and affordability, and any changes to your future circumstances you may be aware of.

*Urban refers to driving in a city
**Extra Urban refers to driving on country roads and motorways

****Manufacturer’s figures may not reflect real world driving - actual range may vary as a result of driving mode and style, additional electricity using equipment, load/number of passengers, outside temperature, terrain and other factors. Please ensure you select a vehicle suited to your needs.
